What’s happening: One of David’s favorite Christmas presents was his Penn State Football Guys. He absolutely loves them, and is always bringing us the container saying “Play football guys?” He’s learned most of the different positions (quarterback, running back, wide receiver, linebacker and lineman), and points them out to us all the time. Needless to say, Daddy is a proud, proud man.
Once we’ve folded out the field, he immediately has people start scoring touchdowns–although if we try to have someone score a touchdown, he often smacks the guy away from us and says “Tackled!”. His favorite football guy to score a touchdown is the referee, so as soon as he finds him, he says “Refefee score touchdown!” and puts him into the end zone. (We’ve tried to explain that referees don’t actually play football, but no dice. At least he’s no longer calling the referee “Joe Pa” as he was when he first got the football guys.) Recently, he’s started having his other toys score touchdowns as well, most often his stuffed octopus. (“Opacus score touchdown!!”) Today, everyone and their brother were scoring touchdowns, as you can see from the following photo.
Obviously the octopus and referee are in there, but you may also notice that there’s a running back, a lineman, a plastic bunny and a stuffed dog. David is applauding their efforts.
